ALCOA, TN -- Tennessee-based Echota Technologies was awarded "Minority Small Business of the Year" by the Tennessee District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration. The 2008 award ceremony was held aboard the General Jackson showboat in Nashville following the 26th annual Minority Enterprise Development week.
Minority Enterprise Development Week (MEDWeek) is an annual national celebration in recognition of the contributions made by minority businesses to the U.S. economy.
Echota Technologies has expanded its operations significantly since its inception in 2000. As of 2002, Echota Technologies held less than $2 million in government contracts. By 2007, that business had expanded to $20 million in addition to substantive commercial contracts.
Echota Technologies Corporation is a Native American-owned business and was granted status to participate in the 8(a) BD program by the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2002.
Echota Technologies currently consists of four active divisions: Commercial and Nuclear Services, Security Services, Information Services, and Tactical Training.
The majority of Echota Technologies contracts are for training and technology related projects for the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD), federal and state agencies.
Echota Technologies is currently the prime contractor for DOE’s National Training Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico and maintains several field offices in North Carolina, Idaho, Alaska, and New Mexico.
