MARYVILLE, TN -- On March 9, 2006 Echota Technologies received the highest honor awarded by the Department of Defense (DoD) for small business mentorship--the Nunn-Perry Award. The DoD developed the Nunn-Perry Award to recognize outstanding program performance by Mentor-Protege teams formed under the auspices of the DoD Pilot Mentor-Protege Program. Some of the criteria for selection of the award include quality of technical assistance, return on investment and impact on Protege development.
Echota Technologies was teamed with AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc. during the 2004/2005 DoD Mentor-Protege program. There are approximately 150 Mentor-Protege teams eligible for the award. "This is no small accomplishment," said Michael Brainard, Vice President AMEC Americas. "Our success was truly a team effort that was built upon the hard work and perserverance of both AMEC and Echota staff."
The award will be presented at the 2007 DoD Mentor-Protege Conference on March 5-8, 2007 in Temecula, California. Echota President Randy McGinnis has also been invited to speak on "Innovative Partnering" during the conference.
